Johnston SunRise: New Police Dispatch, Records System Lives in the Cloud

Johnston Police Department is replacing a legacy dispatch and records system it has run since 1999 with CentralSquare’s cloud-based Records Management System and Computer-Aided Dispatch platform.

• Eliminates on-site servers and the downtime risk of local Wi-Fi outages, since reports no longer stop saving when the network drops
• Gives officers real-time visibility into each other’s locations and lets dispatch see vehicle stops as they happen
• Removes the third-party vendor layer, so the department can contact CentralSquare directly

“The transition to the CentralSquare records management system and Computer-Aided Dispatch system represents an important investment in modernizing the Johnston Police Department’s technology,” said Police Chief Mark Vieira. “The new cloud-based system will enhance our records management and operational capabilities while reducing the department’s reliance on locally maintained servers.”
